By Tech Central

South Africa’s largest online retailer Takealot.com can only sell essential items according to a government directive aimed at limiting the spread of the Coronavirus.

In this interview, Kim Reid the CEO asks the government to consider the decision as the company is now losing more than 80% of its revenue.

Mr Reid argues that In China, the role of e-commerce was recognized and supported.

The CEO adds that the company continues to pay all its staff and is “trying to mitigate the losses as best we can”. However, it will not be able to continue doing so indefinitely, Mr Reid said.
